Bruises

Put on a touch of make-up
to cover up the yellowing bruises.
You hope no one will notice them,
yet secretly, you hope they do.

Put on a long sleeve sweater
to hide the finger vise like red bruises.
After all, It’s no one's business
If he takes life’s disappointments out on you.

Last of all, some full length trousers
Or maybe a pair of dark hose will do.
The kick marks on your legs and thighs
are fading from their previous purple hue.

You know he really loves you,
Just as much as you love him.
If he didn't, he'd just ignore you
like most husbands tend to do.

The only difference that you see
is.....
that you wear your bruises on the outside,
while most women hold their's deep within.
