Meteor Shower
by Gloria L. Corneliusen
Bits of light streamed across
the starlit November sky.
So fast, so quick they appeared
only to mysteriously disappear.
Fast they raced in their heavenly flight
some with long lingering tails
others so short-lived
they must have been but phantom lights.
A few came into our atmosphere
exploding into a cloud of brilliant light.
But just like the ones that passed by unharmed
they too didn’t stay for very long.
Fast, speeding streaks of flaming light
that lit up the cold, crisp Canadian sky
How wonderful it was to be alive
to greet you.
